Composting ClassesThe Howard County Recycling District Announces its Spring Composting ClassesThese composting classes are for any resident of Howard County interested in learning more about mixing yard waste and food scraps and producing a nutrient rich soil commonly referred to as "brown gold." This free one-hour class offers information on how to construct a compost bin out of reusable wood products, fencing or concrete blocks. It provides the recipe for mixing "greens" and "browns" together to provide an optimal product of compost to be used for gardens, flower beds, landscaping or general yard maintenance. An additional "fun" component of the course is to learn how to utilize red wiggler worms to enhance the composting process. Vermi-composting or "composting with worms" is a great way to get children involved in the process. Children are welcome to attend, ages 5 years and up. Any resident attending the class will receive a composter at a minimal cost. Space is limited, so call and register for one of the classes listed below.
